Cefuzonam; Uses, Contraindications, Dosage, Side effects, Interaction

Cefuzonam is an injectable, semi-synthetic second-generation cephalosporin with broad-spectrum antibiotic activity.it is a second-generation cephalosporin type of antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections. Its antibacterial activity is due to the presence of a beta-lactam core structure, which binds with penicillin-binding proteins within bacterial cells, thereby inhibiting cell wall synthesis.

Mechanism of Action of Cefuzonam

Cephalosporins exert bactericidal activity by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis and inhibiting cross-linking of the peptidoglycan. The cephalosporins are also thought to play a role in the activation of bacterical cell autolysins which may contribute to bacterial cell lysis.
