Lavan Churna; Uses/ Indications, Dosage, Side Effects

Lavan Churna an Ayurvedic formulation across the world by developing certain quality control parameters and fingerprinting by following the WHO guidelines for traditional formulations. Three batches of Bhaskar Lavan Churna (BLC) were prepared under strict norms of Ayurvedic formulary of India and efforts has been made to develop its quality control parameters to check uniformity in batches. All batches were physiochemically evaluated for extractive value, ash value, phytoconstituents, crude fat content, loss on drying, pH, total fiber content, and micromeritic parameters. Spectroscopic studies were carried out to develop the spectrum of the formulation and validated by overlain and linearity study (Beer’s law). To ensure the safety of the formulation, microbial contamination by bioburden level and limits of heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium and lead were determined. The results of all batches were found in close proximity with each other. The methods used for determination of quality control of Bhaskar Lavan Churna found to be precise, reproducible and can be considered for routine quality control and fingerprinting of the formulation.
